FRAGRANCE

ZADIG & VOLTAIRE: JUST ROCK!

The French fashion brand of effortless, cool urban, rock and boho chic style Zadig & Voltaire launch their new scents called Just Rock! in July 2017 following fragrances from 2016. This is Her and This is Him. The new feminine and masculine flankers are a contrasting pair, one in black and the other in a white bottle, which are designed as if they were made of cracked stone. When the bottles connect to the side, they fit together and make up one whole.

Just Rock! for Women, whose composition, as well as the previous one, is signed by perfumers Sidonie Lancesseur and Michel Almairac, produces a woody-floral scent with sweet notes of white flowers and dominant patchouli. It is announced as an electric and hypnotic scent for strong women. Notes include tuberose, jasmine, vanilla, patchouli and woody accords.

The men’s Just Rock! is developed by perfume duo Nathalie Lorson and Aurelien Guichard as a warm and sweet oriental-woody fragrance. Announced as strong and charismatic, this perfume includes notes of oriental spices, patchouli, amber, vanilla and woods.

Both fragrances come in quantities of 30, 50 and 100 ml, feminine in Eau de Parfum concentration, and masculine in Eau de Toilette.

NEWS

WHEN VOGUE MET MICA

Current Vogue cover girl Mica Argañaraz entered the fashion world with a bang. As the kind of model whose elusive allure has placed her among the most sought-after women in the industry, she has since walked for brands such Louis Vuitton to Chanel, appearing in a mere 28 shows during the autumn/winter 2017 season. As she appears on the August cover of British Vogue, we speak to the Argentinian beauty about life in the industry as fashion’s latest muse.

Featuring high on everyone’s ones-to-watch list, the Buenos Aires-born model quickly became the breakout star of 2014. The 25-year-old – who was scouted as a teenager at just 14, before she became a model at 18 – made her modelling debut at Christopher Kane’s spring/summer 2013 show, before walking for Miu Miu, Stella McCartney and Chloé (to name a few), and shortly after appeared as the first model since Sasha Pivovarova to star alone in a Prada campaign for autumn/winter 2014. But modelling wasn’t always the end goal for Argañaraz. “It wasn’t really clear, I was studying cinema and I’ve always painted,” she told us. And if she wasn’t a model? “I’d have a little cafeteria where I play my records and serve really good coffee.”

Now, however, Argañaraz is happy with where her career has taken her. “I really take it as a job,” she told us. “It makes me feel proud how far I got, I tried to be honest and true to myself.”

“I’ve had a lot of experiences and I think they’ve made me grow up,” she added. “Also, this job has given me a lot, which allows me to give back and to help people. It feels good when you can turn it into a cycle.”

Argañaraz’s appeal is far-reaching, with her personal flair for fashion – “boyish with a Latin touch” – pitting her as a street-style favourite. Not to mention her curly locks; effortless bangs and inimitable curls became her signature, and sparked a long-bob revolution. How does it feel to break into such a saturated industry?

“You make your own career as you build your own reality,” she told us. “Personally I’m not competitive, and I get along with a lot of my colleagues. I do get happy when my friends and people I like are doing well, and I feel it happens the same the other way around. It can be a lonely lifestyle otherwise when you travel so much.”

When she’s not making her name on the catwalk, Argañaraz can be found painting, playing the guitar, or buying vinyls – she quotes Bob Dylan as an inspiration – but she likes to keep her personal life to herself when it comes to social media. “I just use Instagram. It’s a weird world social media; I don’t like to judge too much. I think everyone has the right to express themselves and it’s a great platform for some,” she told us.

“It scares me when I find myself needing attention online, I see it happening sometimes and it’s strange,” she added. “But it’s also a part of my job, so I try to balance it by sharing things that I like, but not sharing too much; I try to keep the specials things to myself.”

So what’s next for the model who started 2017 by walking in Chanel’s couture show? Argañaraz would love to work with Tim Walker, and take a well-deserved break “somewhere naked under the sun”.
